Bamber Bridge, like many small communities, is well known for its numerous and diverse businesses. Many of these are family owned or run and as such have built up special relationships with their customers and in many cases they are on first-name terms with each other.

This ever popular feature continues to identify some of the 'Movers & Shakers' that operate in and around Bamber Bridge.

In previous issues we have visited Hairdressers; Chip shops; Garages; Computer shops; Bathroom fitters, Funeral Directors, a Taxi & Private Hire Service, a Barber's Shop and a Teacher of Music. In this edition we are featuring an enterprising man who has just started his own gardening business.

                       A Man for all Seasons

Do you love your gardening? Or is it perhaps getting a little bit to much for you? If you need a little or even a lot of assistance to keep it neat and tidy throughout the year then we may just have the ideal solution for you.
Our latest ‘Mover and Shaker’, Mark Collins, although not a ‘Brigger’, lives in the nearby village of Brindle. Until recently Mark was the manager of a busy outdoor shop in Ambleside. Came the new decade and he decided it was time for a complete career change. The decision made; he took the short trip to Lancashire to join up with his brother-in-law as a tree surgeon.
To qualify as a tree surgeon, Mark must first gain his arborist ticket at Myerscough college and with time on his hands has also set himself up as a jobbing gardener and odd job man. This extra string to his bow has proved to be most successful and the work has been rolling in.
Our editor who suffers from TMB (To Many Birthdays) made the decision to hire Mark to help maintain his garden. He informs us that it was a wise decision as Mark, in a relatively short time and at very competitive rates, has turned a near wilderness into front and rear gardens to be proud of. After the initial ground-breaking work, he now visits for a 2-hour session every 2 weeks in preparation for a glorious display next Spring.
Mark lives with his wife Sarah and their two border collies Ben and Ghyllie. He is also a keen fell runner and competes competitively with his dogs as running companions.
If, like our editor, you would like Mark to help with your garden then he can be contacted by phone on 07715643717 or by email on swink@live.co.uk – Try him and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed with his work.
